Enrollment at California State University San Marcos has increased as planned for the spring 2006 semester, meeting both semester and annual enrollment targets for the campus.
As of February 13, the official census date, 7,622 students were enrolled for spring 2006. That figure reflects an overall increase of 151 students or 2.0 percent from spring 2005, when final enrollment was 7,471.
The number of full-time equivalent (FTE) students for spring increased by 91 or 1.5 percent, from 5,872 to 5,963. Enrollment management officials also report that the university has met and surpassed its annual FTE enrollment target, which encompasses enrollment from summer 2005 through spring 2006. The final FTE enrollment for 2005-06 is 6,270, which is 198 FTE or 3.3 percent above the target of 6,072. Campus funding is determined by FTE enrollment. According to Darren Bush, associate vice president for enrollment management services, meeting the annual enrollment target ensures that the university will receive its CSU funding allocation.
"We are excited about welcoming more students to CSU San Marcos and meeting our spring 2006 and annual enrollment targets," said Bush. "There is a growing awareness of our campus’ excellent academic programs and student life. Our campus-wide commitment to meeting student needs and providing the highest quality service to students may be reflected in this growth.”
