OCTOBER FUN SLATED FOR FIRST ALUMNI MONTH
California State University San Marcos is inviting more than 19,000 alumni back to campus for its first celebration of “Alumni Month” in October. Numerous events are scheduled to appeal to the varied interests of the university’s alumni, beginning with the first class of 1990 to the class of 2007 when 2400 new alumni were added at the 17th Commencement in May.
“I am looking forward to this new tradition of excellence and to reconnecting our alumni to this great institution,” says Heather Manley, director of alumni relations.
All events will re-acquaint alumni with their alma mater, with several events designed around family participation. Two particular events geared toward family fun. The first is the Alumni “Crush Party” on October 6, which will feature grape stomping for kids and adults, live music, BBQ and wine tasting. The other is Flag Football and Family Fun Day on October 21. There will be student and alumni teams in the football tournament, as well as a BBQ, games and pumpkin painting for the kids.
