CSUSM Explores Social Justice and Cultural Activism
California State University San Marcos will present two thought- provoking events on social justice and cross-cultural activism as part of the Fall Arts & Lecture Series. Public is invited and admission is free.
• Oct. 16: Dr. Jose Luis Morin will present an examination of the contemporary Latino/a experience, providing insights into the elusiveness of equality and social justice, and approaches to promoting economic, social and cultural rights. Clark Field House, 7- 9 p.m.
• Oct. 25: Several speakers will highlight the collaborative efforts of Filipinos and Latinos during the farm workers’ movement of the sixties. Discussion focuses on cross-cultural activism for social change, especially in terms of the Delano Strike of 1965, when both the Filipino and Latino communities converged their efforts. Room 125 Markstein Hall, 7– 9 p.m.
